Kenzo's Fall 2016 Collection Is Perfectly Balanced in Pattern and Boldness

While this season’s collections have heavily featured loose fitting cuts, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon followed suit for Kenzo‘s Fall 2016 range with a mixed display of loose, strait pants and elongated outerwear among the regular-sized pieces. The collection as a whole takes obvious cues from the fashion house’s history — something Lim and Leon have always strived to not undo, yet there is also a definite freshness to the whole collection, despite its retro ’90s feel. Kenzo Takada’s signature italic lettering can be found on several pieces, while velvet shirts, jacquard coats, and the aforementioned straight-cut, baggy pants brings the whole offering back two and a half decades. The freshness to this season is also found in the color tones used. While keeping it limited to mostly reds, yellows, blues, black and white, the range strikes a balance between the slightly more subdued and muted colors and the more stark and bold pieces, as well as great ease in where patterns are found throughout. Check out the whole collection from the gallery above.
