Dsquared2 Does Hybrid for Its 2016 Fall/Winter Collection
Taking inspiration from Japan, kilts and tartan.
Playing to the chorals of Akira and The Vapors’s Turning Japanese, Dean and Dan Caten opened their show with a distinctly Japanese character. The clothes, however, were not solely inspired by a one-note theme — pleated kilts and tartan made for a hybrid collection. The half-kilt skirts and wide-leg pleated pants are worn under layered offerings of denim truckers and embroidered outerwear — the ornate brocades featured Asian floral, kabuki and manga character graphics. Oversized outwear, with silver foil lining or metallic coverings, are followed by punk elements of bondage zippered pants and tartan.
