For his latest season of menswear, Christopher Kane took a page out of American sculptor John Chamberlain’s book. Chamberlain is known for his harsh metal sculptures made out of used car parts, a motif that played heavily into Kane’s pieces. You’ll see sweatshirts and pants printed with various automobiles, which translated Chamberlain’s rough and rugged aesthetic into zig-zag prints and pocket linings. But aside from the Chamberlain-inspired themes, Kane also kept the color and patterns in full force with a range of zany pieces that somehow work great together.
The silhouettes themselves seemed to be rooted in sportswear, with a series of sweatshirts, windbreaker coats and of course, sneakers. With bold stripes accessorized with backpacks, the link is obvious. Aside from a sporty influence the collection also seems to glean from the East, with kimono-like jackets and cropped wide-legged pants.
