Adam Sandler's 'The Ridiculous 6' Becomes Most Streamed Movie on Netflix
Smashing expectations.
Despite the controversy over its ignorant and low-brow humor, Adam Sandler’s The Ridiculous 6 has completely shattered expectations. According to Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, the movie racked up more views during its first 30 days of availability than any other movie has on the streaming service. “The Ridiculous Six, by way of example, in the first 30 days on Netflix it’s been the most-watched movie in the history of Netflix,” said Sarandos. “It’s also enjoyed a spot at #1 in every territory we operate in, and in many of them it’s still #1.”
This is a notable achievement, but numerous factors could have contributed to its success – for example having more free time during the holiday season, an increasing number of Netflix subscribers, its endless promotional cycle… Despite its glaringly poor reviews, the movie sure did well for Netflix and Sandler. Check out the trailer above if you haven’t seen the film yet, and anticipate a few more Sandler-featured films as he’s signed on for a four -movie deal with the streaming giant.
