Stowed away behind a nondescript garage door in the Gowanus neighborhood of New York City is something which might make the residents of the surrounding area do a double take if they only knew — a veritable treasure trove of 58 mid-century cars, alongside hundreds of bikes, motorcycles and memorabilia, assembled and owned by one Lenny Shiller in a 12,000 square feet of garage. A lifelong Brooklyn resident, Shiller has been collecting, restoring and maintaining his priceless collection over decades, in the process creating what is both a working garage as well as an automotive museum, which he hopes to one day pass onto the next generation. Watch the video above as Shiller walks filmmaker Peter Crosby through his collection, in the process explaining his criteria for acquiring a car, as well as some of his favorites.
