Acne Studios Opens Its First Flagship Store in Korea

On September 19, Acne Studios unveiled its first flagship store in Korea. Situated in Cheongdam, Seoul, the space was designed by renowned architect Sophie Hicks and treads the fine line between reserved modesty and loud attitude. Occupying 2,475 square feet of space, the outside looks like a radiant light box, delicately resting upon wild strawberries among other types of vegetation typically found in the Swedish islands. Once inside, the shop offers a stark juxtaposition in that it transforms into an industrial, concrete-laden retail space. Concrete pillars hold up the roof and are positioned adjacent to a floating concrete staircase. Acne Studios’ collections are displayed against freestanding sterile metal walls, illuminated form above. The Acne Studios Cheongdam store will carry both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections. Accessories and footwear will also be available as well as a limited edition unisex sweater that will be sold exclusively in-store to celebrate the opening.
