A Look at the Legendary "Albino" Rolex GMT-Master Reference 6542
HODINKEE highlights a rarely-seen take on the GMT-Master.

Before vintage Rolex enthusiast Stefano Mazzariol published an article about the watch back in 2010, many considered the existence of the Rolex’s “Albino” GMT-Master to be a complete myth. While an “Albino” Explorer had sold for over $180,000 USD and a matching Daytona ultimately became the most expensive Rolex to ever sell at auction, virtually nobody had ever even heard of a corresponding GMT-Master, much less seen one. Now, thanks to the folks over at HODINKEE, timepiece aficionados have their best look yet at the coveted piece. A simple twist on 1954’s original 6542 — which was sported by Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore in 1964’s Goldfinger — the “Albino” version of the timepiece swaps out a black dial in favor of white, thus lending the watch its nickname while keeping the rest of the 6542’s design cues intact.
