A Day in the Life of Alexander Wang
‘The Wall Street Journal’ spends a day with the designer in Los Angeles.

Soon, Alexander Wang may have a bit more time on his hands. In addition to carrying the weight of his own brand — now a decade old and reportedly bringing in more than $100 million USD in sales each year — Wang has been manning Kering-owned French label Balenciaga since Nicolas Ghesquiere’s departure for Louis Vuitton back in 2012. While Wang’s tenure at the French label will come to an end with the debut of its Spring 2016 collection on October 2 at Paris Fashion Week, double duty, until then, will continue to see the designer splitting his time between New York and Paris as he works 11-hour days between red-eye flights. Recently The Wall Street Journal tried to keep up with the designer’s whirlwind pace, linking up with Wang in Los Angeles as he came to town with photographer Steven Klein to shoot a campaign for social-action nonprofit DoSomething.org.
