Steve McQueen's Special Order Porsche Turbo Carrera up for Auction
It includes a killswitch for the rear lights, to outrun cops on Mulholland Drive.
Steve McQueen was and forever will be known as the “King of Cool,” and his taste in cars is most befitting of that monicker. Up for auction will be his final special order 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera. The mint condition sports car features a 3.0L non-intercooled engine, very rare in itself, with a custom Slate Gray paint job, sport seats, a sunroof, Positraction limited-slip differential, dual mirrors, and black interior. Some personal touches done by McQueen include wider wheels, 8” and 9” front and rear respectively, and a killswitch that shuts off the rear lights — this was apparently to outrun the police when driving up Mulholland Drive. Have some savings? Check out the video above and hit up Mecum Auctions for your chance at purchasing between August 13-15, with proceeds going to Boys Republic.
