With its strong foothold in the current electronic dance music scene, many may not know the roots of Diplo’s record label Mad Decent. Founded in 2005, the Los Angeles-based imprint helped popularize Brazilian baile funk and Angolan kuduro, bringing it sonically to mainstream clubs around the world. Now revisiting these roots, Mad Decent has just signed a four-piece ensemble out of Queens, dubbed The Frightnrs, all heavily inspired by the sounds of Jamaican. Their lead single Admiration, is full of feel-good vibes. Stream it above and for more from the group, visit their website.
