Jane Birkin Requests Her Name Be Removed From Hermès Bags
All prompted by a PETA investigation.

Legendary actress and singer Jane Birkin has requested her name be removed from the crocodile skin iterations of Hermès‘ iconic range of bags. Following an investigation by PETA, looking into alleged cruel practices in the slaughtering of crocodiles to manufacture the Birkin Croco collection, Birkin released a statement saying, “Having been alerted to the cruel practices reserved for crocodiles during their slaughter to make Hermès handbags carrying my name… I have asked Hermès to debaptize the Birkin Croco until better practices in line with international norms can be put in place.” Hermès responded, claiming that the dispute does “not in any way influence the friendship and confidence that we have shared for many years” and that they too were “also shocked by the images recently broadcast.”
