Ann Demeulemeester’s usual romantic style and silhouette has been supplanted with a harder edge this season, with a new direction that isn’t surprising at all since the designer stepped down a few years ago. Replaced with Sébastien Meunier, the successor is finally breaking free from the stronghold that Demeulemeester still had on her eponymous label. A more rock-inspired influence sets the tone for this collection, with rouged up, mop-haired boys wearing biker jackets and leather. Meunier mixed up textures nicely, with hints of sheer fabrics and velvet making appearances throughout. Not only were there textural variations, but amidst the black were pops of color in tangerine, electric turquoise finishing the collection.
