For the final installment of Essentials covering Korean hip-hop band Epik High, we focus on the remaining member, Mithra Jin. Unlike his bandmates, the rapper’s selection consists primarily of simplistic utilitarian items. A variety of USB and charging cables, as well as his iPhone and MacBook exemplify the importance of staying connected to the world. A set of Apple EarPods, a Beats Pill and a pair of Beats Pro headphones are also included, exhibiting the centric aspect of his life — music. In addition, an Oxford note and pen allow the lyricist to jot down any ideas which he can easily refer back to. Mithra also included an umbrella, which serves as both a symbolic and practical item — Epik High’s 2008 album Pieces, Part One featured a track “Umbrella.” Whenever it rains, the song receives heavier radio plays. and as a result, Mithra has develop a fondness for somber weather. Enjoy this final addition to the series of Essentials covering Epik High, and be sure to watch the band’s “Born Hater” music video, or purchase the group’s newest release SHOEBOX on iTunes. Check out their tour dates here to catch them around North America this May and June.
