A$AP Rocky: "Celebrities Ruined Fashion With Me"

Considering A$AP Rocky has built a part of his persona and his individuality as an artist off his fashion sense, you’d expect the clothing he puts on his body to play a pivotal part in his day-to-day life as a rapper. But, things on the fashion end for A$AP Rocky aren’t as bright nowadays. Talking to Co.Create about fashion and music, A$AP Rocky straight-up states:

“Celebrities ruined fashion for me. I used to put a lot of thought into what I was wearing and then when all my favorite brands were being bought and worn by the biggest poseurs and celebrities with terrible taste … Now that’s why I’m wearing old Raf Simons jeans, beat up Alexander Wang boots, and a distressed VLONE T-shirt. I’m just over it. There are days when I get jiggy, but right now, I’m just not into the whole name brand thing so much. I have the brands that I like but the name brand doesn’t really concern me.”

From now on, we can expect Rocky to still be the designer-adorned “Fashion Killa” he calls himself in his songs and statements, but just know it all comes from a genuine place of personal taste. It’s not just about the designer’s name on the tag. Also, celebrities need to stop faking the funk.
