adidas Reveals the Design Process Behind Its ACE15 Soccer Boot

Following yesterday’s behind the scenes look at the adidas X15 boot, today we delve into the theory and design practice behind the ACE15 rendition and understand why this model is helping create an innovative turnaround in sporting footwear. Having designed the ACE15 for controlled players such as Mesut Özil, James Rodríguez, Manuel Neuer and Ivan Rakitić, the shoe’s revolutionary 3D engineered CONTROL WEB upper provides optimal ball control with the addition of a dotted skin for added grip. The ACE15 comes as a balance to the premier of X15’s more chaotic, fast-paced suiting. While the shoe’s three-layer EVA technology helps optimize touch, a redesigned stud configuration and midsole lug-set ensure more contact on over-foot maneuvers. Ultimately created to be “the best boots for the best athletes.”

The ACE15 will make its on-pitch debut at the UEFA Champions League Final between Barcelona and Juventus in Berlin on Saturday, June 6 before being made available to purchase at adidas online and select retailers worldwide on July 1.
