Swiss watch label Mondaine unveils the design process behind its forthcoming Helvetica 1 Smartwatch. Transferring the essence of the Helvetica font to a modern watch, Mondaine provides a digital adaptation of some of the watch’s key design features, including the utilization of the number “1” figure to produce the lugs on the Helvetica 1 watch. Sporting a simple yet precise case design, the Helvetica smartwatch is also adaptable to a smartphone through which time changes and adjustments can be made. A refined leather strap complements the stringent design as Mondaine aims to combine the classic timepiece aesthetic with modern technology to produce an elegant, yet practical new smartwatch.
