Following the National Championship debut of “American Oxygen,” Rihanna surprises fans with a sudden release of the music video to the new single. Performing in front of a massive star-spangled banner backdrop, the Barbados songstress showcases a compelling performance of the track, themed around the conflicts of an immigrant living in the United States. Directed by The Uprising Creative, the video features a handful of powerful visuals – including the Ferguson unrest and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – all intertwined with snippets of Rihanna clad in a semi-transparent white T-shirt and leather jacket. In aid of her Roc Nation boss JAY Z’s new endeavor, the video is available exclusively on streaming service Tidal.
