In a series of interviews done with MTV, Kendrick reveals the initial title of the album was meant to be To Pimp A Caterpillar. In the clip, Lamar further describes that the abbreviation of the scrapped album title, T P A C, was the abbreviation of iconic rapper Tupac and would need to be changed.
