A Bob Marley biopic musical is set to premier at Baltimore’s Center Stage next month. Written and directed by award-winning British playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah, the show covers Marley’s homecoming to Jamaica in the late 1970s. Music from the show will include selections from the albums Exodus, Kaya, and Rastaman Vibration, written during the period when the story is set. Marley will be played by Mitchell Brunings, who rose to fame after singing Marley’s “Redemption Song” on the Dutch version of The Voice. While the play is set to run only for a month from May 7 to June 14, if it does well it could be picked up by theaters in London or New York.
