In an effort to compete with the growing market of live-streaming apps like Meerkat, Twitter has launched the Periscope app which allows users to put out personal broadcasts which can be viewed by anyone, while also enabling them to browse through past streams. Periscope is already being used by countless users around the world, but most notably by astronaut Chris Hadfield that hosts live broadcasts from space. If users enjoy the video they can tap the screen to send a heart or tap it twice to give it two hearts, giving it more exposure. The app has not been integrated into Twitter as of yet, but it will most likely be incorporated as a function somewhere down the line. Periscope is available for iOS users now, with an Android version coming soon.
