We hit the streets of Milan again for part 3 in our Streetsnaps on Milan Fashion Week. After seeing an array of streetwear brands making an appearance in various pieces in part 2, we’re now seeing some sartorial mixing and matching — creating interesting textures through layering and incorporation of unconventional materials. There seems to be a resurgence in color blocking, with monotone pieces creating a striking contrast against other tones. With a black coat over a fluorescent pink sweater, to a primary blue against black and forest green against denim, showgoers are incorporating brights, a fine sign that spring is on the horizon. We’re also seeing cinched waists, in the form of belted coats and jackets. Breaking up silhouettes and providing shape, simple cinched waists provide alleviation from being overwhelmed by heavy outerwear. With warmer weather on the way, look out for more brights and layers adorning the backs of streetstyle mavens.
