Looking to compete with the likes of cable and other streaming services, Sony has launched its very own television streaming service: PlayStation Vue. Available for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 users alike, PlayStation Vue combines live and on-demand TV with a cloud-based DVR service to stream television shows, movies and sports directly to consoles — sans cable or satellite subscription. Starting at $49.99 USD per month, Vue features one of the most comprehensive channel lineups of any streaming service — more than 80 channels are included in its $69.99 USD “Elite” package — and offers viewers the likes of broadcast networks like CBS, NBC and Fox, as well as AMC, BET, Comedy Central, FX, MTV, TBS, TNT, USA and much more.
PlayStation Vue can be downloaded to consoles via the PlayStation Store and is currently limited to Chicago, New York City and Philadelphia, though it will soon be available in additional cities across the United States. Sony is also working on bringing the service to the iPad in the near future.
