The automotive and transportation world has experienced many groundbreaking and disruptive movements in recent times. From ride-sharing and alternative power transportation, driverless cars appear to be the next development picking up significant steam. Transport Systems Catapult recently introduced their electric-powered “LUTZ Pathfinder Pod,” representing the UK’s first driverless vehicle. The RDM group will oversee the construction of the vehicle while sensor and navigation technology was developed by the University of Oxford’s Mobile Robotics Group. Trials will take place to ensure both the efficiency and safety of the project with 40 pods to be tested in Milton Keynes, Coventry and Greenwich.
