An iconic 1955 Jaguar D-Type will be auctioned off for $4 million USD. One of only 54 models ever made, the historic 1955 Jaguar D-Type was produced to dominate the local racing circuits of the ’50s and ’60s, winning first place three consecutive times at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race from 1955 to 1957. Its status as one of the best racing cars of its time attracted wealthy car enthusiasts around the world as its limited production further added to its exclusivity. This particular model above was previously deconstructed and then quickly reconstructed to its original 1955 silhouette. Boasting a vintage wide body frame coated in a classic black hue in addition to two pod seats supporting the right-wheel drive, the 1955 Jaguar D-Type is not only an extremely rare vintage racing car, but also a valuable piece of automobile history. The 1955 Jaguar D-Type will be auctioned off at the Amelia Island event on March 14 through RM Auctions.
