Canada rapper Jazz Cartier has been steadily building over the past year. Thanks to songs such as “Switch,” “Set Fire,” “Count On Me,” and others, the up-and-comer has earned hundreds of thousands of views and listens and started to build buzz. His calling card up until this point has been his tasteful take on the sounds currently making up the bulk of quality, modern hip-hop. From hyped-up, head-banging numbers to soulful, smooth offerings, Cartier has showcased an ability to do it all and make it sound like he’s been doing this for years. His latest, “New Religion,” is a hard-as-concrete, AutoTune-coated cut that could be mistaken for a song from an artist from Atlanta’s current crop, but it’s from Cartier, the self-decribed “next Superstar” out of Canada. Songs like this could get club play and street love in an instant, and as Cartier continues his rise, you can count this as just one more stage in the development of a future heavyweight. Considering the sound of his past releases “Rose Quartz/Like, Crazy” and “Count On Me,” this new track shows that the up-and-coming rapper definitely has a lot of styles up his sleeve.
