As the lensman behind some of pop music’s most iconic images, Jonathan Mannion has blazed an admirable path and made a viable career from his passion. The legendary photographer has shot with everyone from a blood-bathed DMX to Jay Z at his most pimp; his extensive portfolio reads something like an engraved wall of hip-hop royalty – and for every shot is an equitably striking story. The photographer sat down with Cool Hunting in the wake of his efforts for Don’t Steal Possible – a new activist campaign promoting education reform in New York City.
