As the lensman behind some of pop music’s most iconic images, Jonathan Mannion has blazed an admirable path and made a viable career from his passion. The legendary photographer has shot with everyone from a blood-bathed DMX to Jay Z at his most pimp; his extensive portfolio reads something like an engraved wall of hip-hop royalty – and for every shot is an equitably striking story. The photographer sat down with Cool Hunting in the wake of his efforts for Don’t Steal Possible – a new activist campaign promoting education reform in New York City. In the above video, Mannion speaks on the harmony of art and education, how his craft has developed, and working with his favorite artists over the years. Enjoy his positive message with the video above and learn more about Don’t Steal Possible over here.
