HYPETRAK TV: BJ The Chicago Kid - The M.A.F.E. Project (Track By Track Review)
One of hip-hop’s silent kings, and a producer extraordinaire in his own right, BJ The Chicago Kid
One of hip-hop’s silent kings, and a producer extraordinaire in his own right, BJ The Chicago Kid has made a name for himself over the years by working with some of the biggest names in music, with production credits ranging from Kanye West, Chance The Rapper, Madlib, Freddie Gibbs, Rick Ross and even Kendrick Lamar, just to a name few. For such a impressive work history, he’s still somewhat low-key in the game, so when the opportunity came for us to speak to BJ, we certainly wanted to be there behind the boards with him and go over the mystique, and certainly the thought process when he gets in the lab. His latest effort, The M.A.F.E. Project, was the perfect subject to get a scope of his music regimen as broke down the whole project to us, track by track. The timing could not be any better as the Chicago native is in for a big week as he’s received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rap Collaboration with ScHoolboy Q’s “It’s True.” Watch above and leave thoughts in the comment section.
