Fashawn has come a long way since initially receiving recognition for being one of central California’s slept-on underground talents. He’s been co-signed (and signed) by Nas, built up a devoted fanbase, and will be releasing his highly-anticipated sophomore LP very, very soon. The 26-year-old Fresno emcee’s new album, The Ecology, will see release next week courtesy of Nas‘ indie label Mass Appeal, and Fashawn has liberated one more song from the LP featuring the Queens legend-of-legends and popular singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc. Produced by DJ Khalil, “Something To Believe In” will serve as the album’s third track, and the only one featuring Mass Appeal label-leader and executive producer of the project, Nas. The combination of a DJ Khalil beat with Aloe Blacc’s strong vocals and Nas’ always-acrobatic flow really make this song, though Fashawn is the victor here. If you have a song with Nas, Aloe Blacc and DJ Khalil on your album, releasing it a few days before your project drops is definitely a good way to get all eyes on you. You can check out “Something To Believe In” above. The Ecology will see release on February 24.
