Tesla has been expanding its lifestyle offerings and the latest in its lineup of non-automotive fare are none other than iPhone cases. However, this isn’t just an odd foray into the world of accessories. Since the Tesla Model S has become more and more popular, Elon Musk has had to ramp up production to over 50,000 cars a year. More cars = more waste. All this waste = materials to be upcycled.
All the leather in these iPhone cases are made from leftover materials in Tesla’s cars. Retailing between $45 USD to $50 USD, it doesn’t seem like such a bad deal considering the fact that this leather was meant for luxury cars.
