Thanks to the likes of elegantly customized design, a broadcasting studio, and its very own in-house restaurant, NeueHouse took the co-workspace concept and flipped it on its head back in 2013. Now the concept is making its way from the Big Apple to the West Coast as a brand new spot in Los Angeles has been opened. Taking cues from the New York City original, NeueHouse’s Los Angeles space sets up shop in the old William Lescaze-designed CBS television and radio studios on Sunset — a seven-story landmark that’s nearly twice the size of the NYC location and one that offers sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills and downtown. With Rockwell Group taking on the design role once again, NeueHouse LA preserves the building’s historic lobby and adds everything from a coffee shop and flower shop to a variety of workspaces — communal and private alike — to the ground floor. Like the lobby itself, the original staircase and decidedly retro elevator dials have also been kept intact while white marble, board-formed concrete and Moroccan rugs have been added throughout. Upstairs, lounge areas offer a place to kick back while a special library showcases artifacts from the CBS studio’s past. Terraces are even incorporated on both the second and third floors — perfect for soaking up the California sun — and live events and screenings have the perfect home in the iconic Studio A.
