Land Rover Takes Over London Ahead of Auction for Two Millionth Defender
A fitting celebration for the 67-year-old icon.
The Land Rover Defender is one of the most iconic car designs in automotive history, with 67 years of continuous production under its belt since its debut in 1948. Upon the production of the two millionth Defender and the subsequent ceasing of its production this month, Land Rover chose to celebrate its era-defining model with an elaborate campaign that saw London taken over by everything Defender, as can be seen in the video above.
Defender 2,000,000 features some unique marques that signal its special status, such as a map of Red Wharf Bay engraved into a hand-brushed aluminum fender, a ‘HUE’ number plate, and a unique ‘No. 2,000,000’ badge. The car was driven from the Land Rover production facility in Solihull to the Bonhams auction house in London to be auctioned off on December 16, with proceeds going to the Born Free Foundation as well as the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Catch the Defender 2,000,000 on display at Bonhams London on December 15 and 16 before it goes under the hammer.
