Coinciding with Art Basel Miami, Cambridge-based sneaker boutique Concepts has partnered with ASICS for a special edition of the Gel-Respector running silhouette. Inspired by 1980s Miami and the coca plant, which forms the basis for cocaine, the runner sports a premium suede upper of green, 3M plastic overlays, a white midsole and gum outsole, along with a custom-branded Concepts tongue and insole. Sold in a shoe box featuring a dollar bill print, the Concepts x ASICS Gel-Respector will release online and in-store at Concepts’ Cambridge and New York locations on December 5. Meanwhile, Miami customers will be treated to a mysterious, interactive retail space at a secret location, but must first be picked up from a yet-undisclosed location that will be announced closer to the date on the boutique’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.
