Andy Warhol's Former Estate Sells for Record $50 Million USD
The property is known for having guests like the Rolling Stones and John Lennon.

Andy Warhol’s former estate in Montauk, New York sold for $50 million USD, believed to be a record for the village which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The buyer of the 5.7-acre oceanfront property was Adam Lindemann, who founded the Upper East side gallery Venus Over Manhattan. The estate previously belonged to J.Crew CEO Millard “Mickey” Drexler, who purchased it for $27.5 million USD in 2007, reports the Wall Street Journal. According to Ryan Jackla of Sotheby’s Auction House who listed Lindemann’s former residency, Lindemman knew Warhol and collected his artwork, which made him extra keen on purchasing the estate once it went on the market. Warhol purchased the property along with director and longtime collaborator Paul Morrissey in the 1970s for $220,000 USD. It was known to have housed notable figures including John Lennon, the Rolling Stones, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Elizabeth Taylor.
