Travis Durden Reimagines 'Star Wars' Characters as Classical Greek StatuesA long time ago…
George Lucas’s famous space opera saga is honored in Parisian performance artist Travis Durden‘s latest exhibition titled “Contre Attaque” (which loosely means “counter attack” or “return of the attack” in French). Currently being hosted by GALERIE SAKURA in Paris, the exhibition transforms beloved Star Wars characters into classical Renaissance-style art pieces. Durden photographed famous Greco-Roman statues at The Louvre before superimposing characters’ faces in 3D onto antique busts with the help of his team. In total, the exhibition represents work from over 35 international artists such as Sacha Goldberger and Alexandre Nicholas, and mixes a variety of media including sculpture, painting, photography and Swarovski crystals.
