PUMA Unveils the Auto-Lacing AUTODISC
PUMA introduces an auto-lacing silhouette of its own.

The Nike MAG may not be the first auto-lacing shoe to hit the market after all. On pace to beat out the Swoosh’s Back to the Future Part II design is the upcoming AUTODISC from PUMA. Unveiled today and designed to offer the wearer an automatic lockdown fit at the touch of a button, the AUTODISC — built atop an Ignite sole unit — is a unique evolution of PUMA’s patented Disc system that uses a servo motor to power a cable arrangement that resides throughout the shoe’s upper of layered foam and mesh. While the current prototype uses a micro USD cable for charging an onboard battery, PUMA promises the commercial version of the kicks will feature an included charging plate — there’ll be no need to plug the shoes into a power source.
The AUTODISC is due out sometime next year.
