Carmelo Anthony Visits the Infamous Rikers Island to Inspire Troubled Youth

Originally born in Brooklyn, New York Knick’s Carmelo Anthony has always had ties with NYC despite his NBA career beginning in Denver, Colorado. In Vice Sport’s latest installment in the Stay Melo series, Carmelo paid a visit to NY prison complex Rikers Island in order to talk to some of the youth within its complex. Throughout the episode Carmelo expresses his upbringing in growing up in the projects in Red Hook, Brooklyn and Baltimore where he knew many friends and family members that ended up in prison. Additionally, Carmelo also shares his thoughts on how the prison system can be improved by focusing on its rehabilitation aspect rather than being a source of punishment.
