Black Friday has traditionally been one of the most important days in the year for brands to gauge market interest ahead of the lucrative holiday season, and 2015 is no different. Without further ado, check out the 10 best Black Friday sneaker releases below.
Nike LeBron 13 “Opening Night”
Having already unveiled a slew of brand new colorways this year for the LeBron 13, Nike introduces yet another addition dubbed “Opening Night.” Reminiscent of the deep mulberry palette of the “Written in the Stars” edition, the new release utilizes the same coloring to render the Swoosh branding and oscillating design of the midsole, while the tonal wolf grey upper is accented with metallic silver segmentation. In addition, a hexagonal design rendered on the translucent blue outsole provides better grip on-court. To round off the look, a cork-like print is employed on the tongue tag and heel tags, the latter of which also feature further detailing with LJ’s initials applied in an intricate, cursive font. Arrives October 30 at Nike Basketball retailers globally for $200 USD.
Nike Kyrie 1 “Opening Night”
We’re not sure whether or not this is a coincidence that Kyrie Irving’s latest sneaker is also called “Opening Night,” but all we know is that we’re not complaining about the sleek rework. Nike will be releasing a brand new offering of the Nike Kyrie 1, in honor of the point guard’s Double Nickel performance against the Portland Trailblazers. Employing a white mesh base and a nickel-shaped medallion on the tongue tag, the new model is a bona fide ode to the player featuring Kyrie’s face and a small 55 inscription as a nod to his scoring tally. Taking aesthetic cues from the Cavalier colors, the Swoosh is rendered with a rich maroon palette and a metallic silver heel cage and laces to round off the look. A stateside release date has yet to be announced.
Pusha T x adidas EQT “Black Market”
Pusha T follows up his all-white adidas sneaker release from Fall/Winter 2014 with an all-black rendition of their collaborative EQT Guidance Running ‘93. Appropriately dubbed the “Black Market,” the classic runner is outfitted in a tonal black colorway throughout its upper, Three Stripes branding, laces and sole, and features fine carp fish scale detailing surrounding the heel. The G.O.O.D. Music head honcho leaves his mark with subtle “KING” “PUSH” engravings etched into each lace tag. The Pusha T x adidas EQT Guidance Running ’93 “Black Market” hits stores including Wish ATL this Black Friday.
Ronnie Fieg x New Balance “City Never Sleeps”
At the epicenter of the multi-brand collaborative KITH “City Never Sleeps” Collection is the exclusive New Balance 998 silhouette designed in tandem with Ronnie Fieg. Employing the blue palette prevalent throughout the entire range, the new Made in the USA sneaker is a premium rework of the iconic model. With the use of fabrics such as pigskin suede, nubuck and leather, the release is a luxurious addition to any sneakerhead’s collection. A release is set on November 27 at 6 a.m. EST at both KITH locations and 11 a.m. EST on KITH’s website for $240 USD.
Air Jordan 8 “Aqua”
Buzz has been circulating about the rumored return of the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua,” which originally released in 1993 when Michael Jordan famously claimed his three-peat title with the Chicago Bulls. The Air Jordan 8 was the first and only model to display anti-inversion crossover leather Velcro straps atop the laces, which were undeniably the beloved ‘90s sneaker’s crowning feature. The “Aqua” colorway outfits the shoe in a solid black upper that’s complemented by a thick, bold teal and blue midsole that lends the sneaker a decidedly retro aesthetic. Arrives at 10am EST on November 27 online here for $190 USD.

Filling Pieces continues to develop its catalog into ever more sophisticated silhouettes, with this latest Wavy silhouette for its upcoming Black Friday collection acting as a good barometer for the brand’s progress. Available in both black and white, the shoe’s upper features a combination of laser-cut and sewn leather waves, as well as the brand’s signature tongue, padded heel, and a new custom-designed “Top Stripe” sole unit. Bruce Lee x BAIT x Onitsuka Tiger Colorado Eighty-Five “Legend”
This year’s Black Friday holiday falls on November 27, which also would have been Bruce Lee’s 75th birthday. In honor of the Hong Kong martial arts and acting star, American retailer BAIT has partnered with Onitsuka Tiger for a collaborative tribute sneaker dubbed “Legend.” Taking upon the Japanese footwear brand’s classic Colorado Eighty-Five silhouette, “Legend” dons a striking yellow and black colorway that takes cues from Lee’s iconic jumpsuit from his final film, Game of Death. The model’s premium, perforated, yellow nubuck upper is emboldened by black leather stripes and finished off with a speckled black sole and matching black laces with metallic gold aglets. The “Legend” is due out November 27 at BAIT’s Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco and Hong Kong pop-up locations while those interested in purchasing the kicks online can enter a raffle here.
