Lanvin Employees Demand Ousted Creative Director Alber Elbaz's Return
“Alber, Alber, Alber.”
Alber Elbaz seems to have accepted the terms of his forced departure from his 14-year stint as Lanvin’s Creative Director at the hands of owner and Taiwanese printing magnate Shaw-Lan Wang, but his employees have not taken the decision lying down. Having transformed the French luxury brand into a respected label and forming close-knit relationships with his team in the process, news of Elbaz’s departure was met by many employees with shock, tears and chants of “Alber, Alber, Alber” on Wednesday. Now, the company’s works council is demanding Wang to go to Paris to consult with the body on how to move forward, according to an anonymous employee interview by French radio station RTL. The council is also not ruling out going to the Paris commercial court to voice its opposition to management. Stay tuned for any more developments concerning the fashion house’s increasingly messy affair.
