Material comes first in White Mountaineering‘s 2015 fall collection, with Designer Yosuke Aizawa explaining his approach of settling first on the choice of fabric, then the message. That being said, style is still very much prevalent throughout, with looks varying in a peaty-like palette, from browns to greens to gray scale, all appropriated onto a series of military-inspired pieces. Adopting a lateral approach to print — namely camouflage — Aizawa adorns the collection in tonal geometric, floral and owl motifs that compliments the layering technique used on a number of looks. But as mentioned, material is what cements the collection’s purpose of functionality, with GORE-TEX being the main component. Found predominantly with the outerwear pieces, new applications to the technical fabric was used, such as on corduroy, and is an example of Aizawa’s fascination with the material: “I’ve been working with GORE-TEX for 10 years, so now it’s about refining the fabric.” See the full collection for yourself in the gallery here.
