With its official release today, we are proud to present you with the inaugural issue of the HYPETRAK Magazine. Since the dawn of the digital age, the music industry has been faced with hardship in its attempt to distribute and generate revenue. Despite this, music and culture have both retained — and maybe even enhanced — its creativity and vibrancy. The magazine serves to capture but an excerpt of this cultural dynamism around the world. This 140-page issue features a comprehensive cover story on rapper Kendrick Lamar — his growth as a person and an artist, and his desire to balance his dreams with reality in order to achieve perfection with his craft. On top of the Compton luminary, this publication follows the story of a diverse spectrum of both individuals and collectives who share our same passion for music and its culture. Such figures include Jhené Aiko and her courage to remain candid in the midst of an industry that has shown many times to be insincere, and Flying Lotus with his influences that persuades him to take on the role of an illustrator in both aural and visual facets. Other covered features include Parisian brand Pigalle, GoPro’s recent venture into music, Michael Salisbury and Ta-ku’s audio-visual collaboration “Create & Explore,” and the entire city of Johannesburg as an electrifying hub of creativity, as well as many more exciting stories.
The magazine retails at $12 USD (£7.50 GBP). Get it now on the HYPEBEAST Store.
