Gucci 2015 Fall/Winter Collection
Following Frida Giannini’s abrupt departure from Gucci, the label’s team of young designers
Following Frida Giannini’s abrupt departure from Gucci, the label’s team of young designers have presented a striking collection despite the circumstance. In a mere five days, every last detail was changed; from redesigning the collection, to the model casting and the seating arrangement. Heralding a new era for the storied Florentine fashion house, the young team, led by accessories designer Alessandro Michele, paid homage to the French Republic in the wake of the attacks in Paris. With a highly androgynous collection, worn by both male and female models, the collection was a stark contrast to Giannini’s Gucci of the past. Taking inspiration from French artists, musicians and intellectuals, there were stock-tied blouses, wide-legged pants, and a variety of jackets, among berets, spectacles and skinny scarves. Overall, the collection was nonconformist and romantic, offering a taste of the new, post-Giannini Gucci.
