COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT, the diffusion CDG label from Rei Kawakubo, served as a palette cleanser of sorts on the penultimate day of the fall/winter menswear season. With simple knits, overalls and shirts, the pieces were shown in silence within a brightly lit room — a stark contrast to some of the heavier shows we’ve seen this season. But with a simple beginning to the show boasting some clean looks consisting of crisp collared shirts, bright and loud prints slowly took over, with scribbles, splatters and scrawls coming down the runway. Overall, the show boasted the dynamism and quirkiness we’re accustomed to from Kawakubo, with many wearable pieces.
