Taking place in London October 30, Red Bull Music Academy is set to launch the fourth chapter to its highly anticipated Culture Clash. Reigning champ Boy Better Know will go head-to head against A$AP Mob, Rebel Sound, David Rodigan and Stone Love. Since winning the last clash in 2012, the London grime collective haven’t been resting on their laurels. To further hone their skills before next month’s competition, BBK members Skepta Shorty, Jammer, Frisco, Solo 45 and DJ Maximum ventured to Kingston to learn more about sound clash culture from some of the scene’s founding fathers. Legends and selectors like U-Roy, Ricky Trooper, Lady Saw and Popcaan offered advice, while also sharing some rare gems from their own crate. From cutting dubplates to discovering Jamaica’s hotbed of reggae and dancehall talents via excursions to local club nights, the boys return back to London armed and ready for the clash ahead. Captured in a short film titled “JAMAICA BETTER KNOW,” Red Bull was kind enough to leak the first two and a half minutes of the film to our comrades at HYPETRAK. Enjoy the snippet of the film above and stay tuned for the release of the full documentary over at Red Bull to launch on September 10 at 17:00 GMT.
