Following the announcement of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has reportedly sold a record number of iPhones during its initial pre-order weekend. Four million units were said to have been sold between Friday morning and the end of the same day. That’s double the number of pre-orders for the iPhone 5 back in 2012, which managed an estimated 2 million in 24 hours. Apple will begin selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in retail stores beginning September 19, at 8 a.m. local time and carrier partner stores. Those not purchasing the latest iPhone can download and install the new iOS 8 beginning September 17.
