Aphex Twin got everyone’s attention earlier in the summer when the esteemed electronic producer announced his to release a new album, titled Syro (his first since 2001). Today, he hits us with the first taste of the project with this ambient, semi-turn up cut titled “minipops 67 [120.2] (Source Field Mix).” A steady arrangement of drum machine, snares and synthetic ride cymbals take precedence in this one, while echoed bass drums and and heavily processed vocals smooth things out for added depth. A lot of complex sounds that all come together quite nicely if we don’t say so ourselves. Check it above, while Syro officially drops on September 23 via Warp.
