Over the years, SoundCloud has become a platform both for artists to share high-quality audio to a wide audience of listeners and for users to stream and rip various amounts of music without any form of payment. Critics against SoundCloud have denounced the company for becoming the new-age download hub while crowds have praised it for the same exact reason. It seems that a compromise has been reached as SoundCloud is now planning to introduce advertisements on its site as a way to compensate artists and labels. A portion of the revenue raised from the playback of these ads will go directly to support the respective artists.
