NIGO too audiences to the Bibliothèque Nationale for his latest unveiling of the Fall/Winter 2024 collection. In the past, NIGO has prompted that KENZO will always be about bridging multiple cultural references to concoct a fusion that meets the eye.

Still connection Paris and Tokyo through his collections, NIGO toyed with the adaptation of a traditional tatami mat print to overcoats while also bringing forward his own iteration of the karakusa — known to be a popular pattern seen on packaging fabrics used throughout Asia. Explorer motifs in duffles, multi-pocketed jackets, shearling mittens, aviators and his classic deconstructed treated denim workwear continued to make an appearance in the collection. Taking inspiration from school uniforms were collarless red and green utilitarian blazers with gold buttons.

The collection also unveiled womenswear, which leaned towards the more traditional idea of femininity. From skin-tight rib-knit mini dresses that accented the hips to leather belts to cinch the waste, the collection also saw sweetheart necklines to accentuate parts of the feminine body. Padded vests and letterman jackets featuring KENZO’s branding was also seen in the collection.
