Drake's Comments Result in $25,000 Fine for Toronto Raptors

In a perfect example of what happens when one puts their foot in their mouth, over-enthusiastic comments made by Drake at OVO Fest have resulted in a $25,000 fine from the NBA. After finding out Kevin Durant was in attendance during this past weekend’s OVO Fest, the Canadian rapper/Toronto Raptors representative made the following comments:
“Before we leave, I just want to show one of my brothers something. You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen.”
Since Drake is an “ambassador” for his city’s team, this was declared to be an unauthorized “public recruiting pitch” and thus a violation of the NBA’s strict anti-tampering rule. The Toronto Raptors were subsequently fined $25,000 as a result of those few sentences uttered by Drake. Looks like Drake might want to brush up a bit on some of the NBA’s rules regarding being an ambassador.
