The legendary fashion house of Maison Martin Margiela is infamous for its anonymity in the industry, preferring to be viewed as a creative collective team rather than having an individual at its helm. Therefore, it came as a shock when the imprint invited its Twitter followers to “follow the unmasking of our Artisanal show” and unmasked the collection’s previously anonymous designer, Matthieu Blazy. Unmasking Blazy was Suzy Menkes who even provided proof with a backstage photo on Instagram and in her review for Vogue, she wrote,
“An exceptional collection at Maison Martin Margiela brought the designer Matthieu Blazy out of the shadows. It is understandable that Renzo Rosso, whose company Only The Brave is behind Margiela, should want to keep Blazy backstage – especially since the founding designer so rarely showed his face. But you can’t keep such a talent under wraps,”
