Continuing to premiere songs from Zach Braff’s upcoming film, Wish I Was Here, NPR has unveiled the movie’s title track. “Wish I Was Here” is a collaboration between Cat Power & Coldplay, and features Cat Power‘s vocals juxtaposed over Coldplay’s instrumental work. Inspiration for the song came from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin’s viewing of the film, which inspired Martin to want a song sung by a female vocalist. Braff thought the idea was “genius,” and both individuals thought of Cat Power as the right singer for the song. Just like with previous artists selected to work on the music behind the film, Cat Power architect Chan Marshall was treated to a screening of the film to guide her work. You can listen to the final product, which Braff calls his “favorite cut,” over at NPR. The soundtrack will be out on July 15.
